KONNEKT Search & Selection recently collaborated with Nature Trust Malta to organise a clean-up for the companies’ CSR event.

The clean-up, which lasted for two hours, was held in March 2016 at the Marsaxlokk Saline Marshland Nature Reserve. The nature reserve is one of the only saltmarsh habitats still found in a relatively good state on our islands and is a designated Natura 2000 site, signifying its ecological importance within the EU. The area is protected and is in dire need of conservation measures.

Prior to the clean-up, KONNEKT employees were given an introduction to the area by Nature Trust Malta, which included information on the history and ecological importance of the site, as well as a message of appreciation from the Mayor of Marsaxlokk.

A total of 30 employees collected 425 kilos in 71 garbage bags of waste from the site, ranging from plastic bottles to fishing rope to household appliances and more. The waste was hand-picked, and disposed of in a skip which was kindly sponsored by the Marsaxlokk Local Council.

KONNEKT truly believes in protecting the environment and caring for our country’s national heritage.
