We’re looking for a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to take ownership of critical messaging platforms, with a strong focus on SMS and telco protocols.
In this role, you’ll ensure the performance, reliability, and uptime of messaging services across on-premise and cloud-based environments, working closely with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and internal teams.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and support proprietary telecom applications (SMS, SMPP, SIGTRAN, SIP)
- Monitor and optimise application performance, reliability, and availability
- Troubleshoot messaging and protocol issues using tools like Wireshark
- Analyse end-to-end message flows and resolve connectivity issues (e.g., SMPP, SIP, SIGTRAN)
- Coordinate with MNOs for integrations, incident resolution, and service restoration
- Execute change requests (planning, rollout, validation, testing)
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver enhancements and maintain service quality
Note: This role focuses on troubleshooting and analysis. Software bugs are handled by development teams, and network configuration is managed separately.
Requirements
- 4+ years in a telecommunications engineering role
- Strong experience with A2P/P2A gateways, SMSCs, and STPs
- Solid knowledge of SMPP, SIP, SIGTRAN, MAP, and SS7 protocols
- Experience working with Linux environments and SCTP
- Proficiency with network tracing tools (e.g., Wireshark)
- Familiarity with both on-premise and cloud-based telco environments
