The Systems & Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimising on-premises IT infrastructure supporting critical banking services. The role includes managing servers, Exchange, Active Directory, networking, and virtualization platforms, with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, and integration with financial systems.
Responsibilities
Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Perform system patching, upgrades, and continuous server-health monitoring.
Maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi clusters and optimise performance.
Manage SAN/NAS storage, backups, and disaster-recovery solutions.
Configure and support Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls.
Oversee VPNs, site-to-site connectivity, and secure remote-access solutions.
Monitor and troubleshoot network performance in line with banking standards.
Implement endpoint-security policies such as antivirus, patching, and SentinelOne.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and address findings.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, GDPR, DORA, and internal audit requirements.
Act as a second-line escalation point for complex technical issues.
Troubleshoot advanced issues involving email, authentication, VPN, and banking applications.
Collaborate with application teams to ensure secure and stable financial-system integrations.
Work with vendors on procurement, licensing, and support contracts.
Requirements
Strong expertise in Exchange on-premises, Active Directory, VMware, and Cisco networking.
Experience with backup and disaster-recovery solutions such as Veeam.
Familiarity with endpoint-security platforms like SentinelOne.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience
Experience in the financial sector and familiarity with core banking applications, SWIFT, SEPA, and payment systems are highly advantageous.
