Our client, operating in retail, is seeking a visionary and strategic Head of Technology Services to lead the ongoing transformation of their technology landscape and guide a high-performing team of IT professionals.
This senior leadership role is integral to shaping the strategy, architecture, and delivery of critical technology services that underpin our operations and empower customer success. As a key member of our technology leadership team, you will drive the design and implementation of secure, resilient, and modern IT solutions—balancing operational excellence with the agility needed to anticipate and meet future business demands.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a forward-looking technology services strategy aligned with business goals.
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., cloud-native, automation, AI, edge computing) to enhance competitiveness and resilience.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Lead the delivery of comprehensive technology services, including infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and end-user support.
- Optimise ITSM practices, including incident, problem, and change management.
- Promote the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps methodologies, and automation to drive efficiency and service quality.
- Oversee the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and resilient IT infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to ensure alignment between technology roadmaps and service design.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives with a focus on performance optimisation and cost efficiency.
- Embed security-by-design principles into all technology service layers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2).
- Proactively assess risks and foster a strong culture of cybersecurity awareness.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors, cloud providers, and managed service partners.
- Evaluate and integrate technologies that enhance operational reliability and service delivery.
- Inspire, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of technology professionals.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to deliver impactful, customer-centric solutions.
- Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness and value of technology services.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies and architectures.
- Strong expertise in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure best practices.
- Proficiency with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
- Certifications: ITIL certification and other relevant technical credentials are highly desirable.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years in IT service delivery or infrastructure leadership, with demonstrated success in building and scaling modern technology environments.
