Our client, operating in the Shipping industry, is searching for a full-time Ship Operations Assistant to join their Shipping department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the logistical and documentation processes required for the efficient arrival, berthing, cargo operations, and departure of vessels calling at Maltese ports or shipyards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle all logistical and documentation tasks related to vessel operations, including arrival, berthing, discharge/loading, and departure.
- Coordinate operations with Principals, port service providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Attend to vessels during port or shipyard calls to ensure smooth and timely operations.
- Liaise with the Documentation team to prepare manifests and ensure compliance with customs and port authority requirements.
Requirements:
- Minimum MQF Level 4 education (or equivalent).
- Eligible candidates must be based in Malta
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and Maltese
- Computer literate and proficient with standard software applications.
- Possession of a valid driving license and possess a car.
- Willingness to work after hours, on weekends, and public holidays as part of a rotating duty schedule.
- Previous experience in the shipping or logistics industry.
- Seagoing background or familiarity with maritime operations.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and documentation.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Organised, dependable, and able to handle high-pressure situations.
- Flexible and adaptable to operational demands.
