Procurement Officer

One of our clients operating within the Shipping, Transport & Logistics industry, is searching for a Procurement Officer to join their team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Source & Secure: Lead the procurement of goods and services in alignment with company and client requirements, adhering to established procedures.
• Understand Requirements: Collaborate with internal teams and clients to gain a clear understanding of needs and priorities.
• Drive Value: Solicit and evaluate quotations, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure cost savings and sales targets are achieved.
• Ensure Compliance: Review technical and HSE specifications to confirm all purchases meet safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate Logistics: Partner with the shipping department to manage shipment needs and secure competitive freight rates.
• Provide Accurate Quotations: Prepare and issue client quotes in line with contractual terms, and create cost comparisons for internal requests.
• Track & Follow Up: Monitor pending approvals, obtain required documentation, and oversee orders from placement to base delivery.
• Complete Documentation: Prepare all necessary paperwork for client orders, maintain accurate records, and promptly submit financial documents to Finance.
• Foster Relationships: Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Support the Team: Offer training and guidance to colleagues, share expertise, and contribute to a collaborative workplace.
• Enhance Processes: Assist the Head of Department in reviewing and improving procurement practices, offering constructive feedback, and supporting special initiatives.

Requirements

• Candidates must already be working in Malta
• Candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have access to their own vehicle
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a must. Maltese is an asset.
• Proficency in MS tools
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays on a rotating schedule.

Education and Experience

• Possessing an EQF Level 4 qualification in Business Administration or similar is preferred
• Have at least 1 year of local experience in procurement or similar is a must
