Our client is a renowned company on the Maltese Islands. They would like to engage a Head of Procurement to lead the full procurement function across raw materials, packaging, retail goods, and operational supplies.
The Role
You will develop and implement a procurement strategy that ensures cost efficiency, product quality, and continuous supply.
You will oversee sourcing and purchasing for manufacturing, ensuring alignment with production needs and inventory targets.
You will negotiate with local and international suppliers to secure favourable pricing, terms, and delivery performance.
You will monitor global market trends, risks, and lead times to safeguard material availability.
You will ensures compliance with Maltese and EU regulations, food-safety standards, and certification requirements.
You will drive cost-control initiatives such as supplier consolidation, tendering, and alternative sourcing while supporting margin analysis with accurate cost data.
Responsibilities extend to retail procurement, including product sourcing, supplier contract management, and negotiation of rebates and promotional support.
You will ensure that sourcing decisions support company profitability through close collaboration with Operations, Finance, and Retail teams.
You will manage supplier data accuracy, stock card setup, system pricing, and ongoing price updates to maintain correct costing and retail pricing.
You will also oversee BI-driven procurement reporting, monitors system alerts, and advances digital procurement initiatives like automated workflows and supplier portals.
The role requires strong cross-department collaboration, adherence to internal controls, and leadership of the procurement team.
Requirements
Candidates should have 5 years of procurement experience preferably in FMCG or manufacturing
Have strong negotation skills, regulatory knowledge, ERP inventory and a relative degree(an asset)
