A well-established and growing organisation in the food and distribution industry is seeking a strategic and results-driven Commercial & Supply Chain Manager to lead and optimise its purchasing and supply chain operations across multiple business entities.
This is a senior role suited for an experienced professional with strong commercial awareness, analytical capability, and a passion for operational excellence. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring product availability, improving inventory performance, strengthening supplier relationships, and supporting overall business growth.
What You'll Be Doing
Supply Chain & Purchasing Leadership
- Lead and coordinate the purchasing and supply chain department across the business
- Maintain full visibility and control over stock levels, MOQ management, seasonality, sales trends, promotions, and historic data
- Drive efficient inventory management with a focus on lean stock turns and product availability
- Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with business objectives
Commercial & Supplier Management
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and supply agreements
- Analyse supplier performance, pricing structures, and market trends
- Research and identify new products, sourcing opportunities, and suppliers
- Monitor commodity prices, industry trends, and market data to support informed purchasing decisions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to develop strategic plans for key brands
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all departments
- Support forecasting and demand planning initiatives to improve operational efficiency
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy
- Develop and monitor departmental KPIs and employee performance metrics
- Generate reports, statistics, and performance analysis for management review
- Analyse inventory performance to reduce waste, optimise stock levels, and improve customer service
Compliance & Sustainability
- Maintain purchasing and inventory control procedures in line with company standards
- Ensure compliance with environmental policies, regulations, and industry best practices
- Support and oversee reverse logistics and product take-back initiatives
- Monitor supply chain practices and adapt processes to evolving regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Economics, or a related field
- Master’s degree considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally within FMCG or a fast-paced commercial environment
- Strong understanding of inventory management, demand forecasting, and supply chain optimisation
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost control
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into action
- Excellent commercial awareness and strategic thinking
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system proficiency
