We are looking for an Accounting Officer to join their Finance & Administration department for a established shipping company in Malta.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the smooth running of the organisation’s financial and administrative processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance at every stage.
Responsibilities:
- Managing accounts payable and receivable, including posting and verifying invoices.
- Preparing and performing bank reconciliations and general ledger entries.
- Supporting monthly and year-end closing activities, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
- Handling routine tax compliance such as VAT returns, filings, and withholding taxes.
- Overseeing fixed asset registers, including depreciation schedules.
- Liaising with suppliers, clients, and external consultants to ensure smooth operations.
- Assisting with documentation and providing support during internal and external audits.
Requirements
- A diploma in Accounting, a degree in Economics, or a related qualification.
- 2–3 years of proven experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and local tax regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting software.
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken); knowledge of Italian is a plus
- A proactive, accurate, and reliable team player with strong organisational skills.
