Head of Transformation

  Central Malta  |  €55,000 - €65,000 Annually 

As Head of Transformation, you’ll play a central role in modernising how technology delivers value across the business. Sitting at the intersection of Architecture, Demand, and Delivery, you will influence strategy, simplify complexity, and drive meaningful, lasting change across the IT landscape.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the transformation of legacy systems into scalable, modern architectures, balancing risk, cost, and business continuity.
  • Translate enterprise architecture strategy into clear, actionable delivery roadmaps and outcomes.
  • Drive application re-architecture initiatives, defining target states, transition paths, and pragmatic execution approaches.
  • Establish governance practices that ensure solutions are secure, resilient, and operationally sustainable.
  • Shape and optimise the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, identifying inefficiencies and embedding smarter, more automated ways of working.
  • Build and embed a Demand Quality Assurance function, ensuring requirements are clear, testable, and ready before entering delivery.
  • Define and enforce quality standards such as Definitions of Ready and Done to improve consistency and reduce rework.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Architecture, Engineering, QA, and Operations, ensuring alignment from concept through to production.
  • Drive system and tooling rationalisation, reducing duplication and enabling a simplified, cost-efficient technology estate.
  • Develop and execute re-platforming and migration strategies, ensuring operational readiness and minimal disruption.
  • Monitor performance through meaningful KPIs (delivery, quality, cost, and operational metrics), taking corrective action and continuously improving outcomes.
  • Act as a change leader identifying friction in the operating model and implementing improvements across people, process, and tools.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) across systems analysis, software development, and delivery leadership.
  • Strong track record in leading large-scale transformation, including legacy modernisation and re-architecture initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles and their practical application in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to establish quality frameworks within demand and delivery lifecycles.
  • Experience driving system consolidation, re-platforming, and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across teams without direct authority.
  • Expertise in Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field.
