Our client if looking for a Technical Specialist, the hands-on expert who builds, maintains and swiftly repairs our island-wide hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) network. You’ll troubleshoot outages, splice fibre and coax, carry out preventive maintenance, mentor fellow technicians and champion rigorous health, safety and environmental standards, keeping Malta connected while expanding your own technical skills and career prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Emergency Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Rapidly identify, prioritise, and resolve faults within Melita’s HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial) network, ensuring minimal disruption to customers and reduced network downtime.
- Network Maintenance: Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on fibre optic and coaxial infrastructure to maintain service reliability and network integrity.
- Infrastructure Construction & Restoration: Build and activate new HFC infrastructure, including cable splicing and system activation. Execute emergency cable bypasses to restore service promptly following third-party damage.
- Training & knowledge-sharing: Coach fellow technicians and complete company-provided learning (online modules, new-equipment procedures, H&S and environmental courses).
- Safety & environment: Follow all HSE policies, risk assessments and safe-working practices to protect people, equipment and the environment.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in installing, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining HFC access networks (fibre and coax).
- Practical knowledge of RF principles (alignment, leakage, signal levels) and basic Power principles (Voltage, Current, Resistance).
- Skilled in fibre/coax splicing and interpreting network design documentation.
- Strong fault-prioritisation skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Willingness to mentor peers and embrace continuous learning.
