Our client is currently seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Helper / Handyman to assist with general maintenance and repair tasks across their premises. This role is ideal for someone practical, proactive, and capable of handling a variety of maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with inspections, repairs, and general upkeep of winery buildings, including production areas, barrel rooms, tasting rooms, administrative spaces and supporting facilities.
Perform minor carpentry, painting, patching, and facility touchups to uphold the winery’s brand standards.
Support maintenance of lighting, walkways, drainage systems, and structural components across the estate.
Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of winery equipment such as pumps, hoses, tanks, presses, and bottling line components.
Participate in preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness.
Report equipment concerns promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
Provide assistance to technicians performing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
Help monitor and maintain HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and temperature controlled storage environments essential to wine quality.
Support maintenance of water systems, wastewater treatment equipment, and sanitation infrastructure.
Assist with setup, cleaning, and breakdown of harvest related equipment and work areas.
Provide general labor support during crush season, contributing to safe, efficient, and organized operations.
Adapt to increased seasonal activity with a positive, team oriented approach.
Follow all winery safety protocols, including PPE requirements, chemical handling procedures, and confined space guidelines.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard free work areas.
Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Requirements
Previous experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a similar technical role.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general repair work.
Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Good communication skills and reliability.
Willingness to learn winery specific equipment and processes.
Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic power tools.
Education and Experience
Higher National Diploma into Electricals/Mechanical or equivalent.
Experience in maintenance, construction, agriculture, or industrial environments is beneficial.
