Information Security Specialist

Exciting opportunity with our client seeking an Information Security Specialist to provide senior technical expertise and strengthen their security posture. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about safeguarding systems and supporting a trusted environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical expertise to bolster the overall security posture and act as a primary escalation point for complex issues.
• Execute advanced security assessments, proactive threat hunting, and comprehensive vulnerability testing.
• Collaborate with management to design robust security architectures and implement sophisticated technical controls.
• Develop and refine security policies, standards, and procedural frameworks to ensure organisational alignment and resilience.
• Lead investigations into complex security breaches, performing deep-dive forensic analysis and remediation.
• Track emerging cyber threats and conduct advanced research to stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape.
• Facilitate risk management processes and ensure all systems meet stringent regulatory obligations and audit requirements.
• Fine-tune and automate security tooling, including SIEM, EDR, and SOAR, to increase operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Extensive technical proficiency in managing and optimizing SIEM, EDR, and SOAR platforms, alongside robust network and endpoint security tools.
• Deep practical understanding of industry-standard frameworks, including ISO 27001, CIS Controls, OWASP, and COBIT.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to automate security tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Located in Malta with local experience

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Possession of one or more industry-recognized certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor.
• Minimum of 4 years in information security, including at least 2 years in a senior-level or specialist capacity.
