MET Office Manager

Our client is looking to recruit an MET Office Manager to join their growing team. The chosen candidate will:

• Lead, supervise, and manage a team of forecasters, observers, and technical staff.
• Oversee the production, quality, and dissemination of weather forecasts, warnings, and advisories.
• Ensure uninterrupted operational readiness and effective service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with national and international meteorological standards, policies, and best practices.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures across all meteorological products and observations.
• Coordinate meteorological services with government agencies, emergency services, and aviation and marine authorities.
• Represent the office in inter-agency meetings, technical conferences, and public briefings.
• Supervise meteorological data collection, analysis, validation, and long-term archiving.
• Support the development, testing, and implementation of new forecasting tools and methodologies.
• Promote research and innovation to improve forecast accuracy and service relevance.
• Manage office resources, budgets, and operational planning activities.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
• Ensure ongoing staff training, competency development, and professional growth.
• Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and high performance.

Requirements

• Must be located and settled in Malta.
• Demonstrate a proven ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
• Excellent communication, training, and leadership abilities.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail

Education and Experience

• Must hold a university degree, preferably in Geophysical Sciences or a related field.
• Must have a minimum of two years of supervisory or managerial experience.
