Sales & Event Operations Manager – Italy

  Central Malta  |  €50,000 - €70,000 Annually 

Our client is looking for a Sales & Operations Manager fully based in Italy to build and manage team. The person is accountable for leading the commercial performance and operational delivery of the firm. This role drives sustainable revenue growth, ensures profitable and high-quality event delivery, and builds a motivated, high-performing local team. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and requires strong commercial judgement, operational oversight, and people leadership.

Responsibilities

Strategy, Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and deliver the annual business plan, sales strategy, and budget.
  • Drive revenue growth through proactive sales leadership and key account management.
  • Identify and develop new market, client, and product opportunities.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Provide regular sales, performance, and financial reports to Group management.
  • Ensure local commercial activity aligns with Group strategy and objectives.

Client & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead the sales function to maximise conversion, margins, and long-term client value.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners.
  • Oversee major proposals, tenders, and high-value negotiations.
  • Ensure timely, professional handling of all client enquiries and proposals.
  • Represent at trade fairs, sales trips, and client meetings.
  • Host and accompany key clients on inspections and familiarisation visits.

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee operational delivery to ensure seamless, high-quality events.
  • Ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to company standards.
  • Act as senior escalation point for operational or client issues during events.
  • Ensure effective planning, risk management, and contingency processes.
  • Manage key supplier relationships and negotiate competitive commercial terms.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Italy team to achieve strong performance and engagement.
  • Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support development planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and values-driven team culture.
  • Ensure effective resourcing, workload planning, and staff wellbeing.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment legislation, and internal procedures.

Marketing, Brand & Market Awareness

  • Ensure all sales and marketing activity aligns with the brand and values.
  • Support marketing initiatives, campaigns, and content development.
  • Act as a brand ambassador in all client-facing and public engagements.
  • Monitor competitors, market trends, and industry developments.
  • Encourage the collection of client feedback, testimonials, and reviews.

Governance & General Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and company governance requirements.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, reporting accuracy, and contract management.
  • Attend management meetings, strategy sessions, and training as required.
  • Support cross-market collaboration and group-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain flexibility to work outside standard hours when required.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, conduct, and corporate representation.

Requirements

  • Professional working proficiency in English and Italian is a must.
  • Proven experience in sales, operations and events.
  • Willingness to relocate to Italy to the designated work location.
  • Strong commercial and organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and taking ownership.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities and deliver results.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-management skills.
  • Valid Italian driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends as required by business and event needs.
