We are seeking a commercially driven and strategic Retail Sales Manager to lead, develop, and grow the food retail operations. This senior leadership role carries full accountability for the division’s financial performance, operational excellence, team leadership, and strategic growth.
The successful candidate will provide strong direction across commercial management, client and supplier relationships, inventory control, and business development, while fostering a high-performance culture aligned with company values and long-term objectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Retail Division
- Build, develop, and motivate a high-performing team
- Conduct performance reviews and implement structured development plans
Financial & Commercial Performance
- Take full ownership of divisional revenue, profitability, and cost control
- Develop and manage annual and quarterly budgets
- Monitor financial performance against targets and implement corrective measures where necessary
- Oversee debtor ageing analysis and ensure effective credit control practices
- Drive margin improvement through pricing strategies and disciplined cost management
- Identify and capitalise on new revenue streams and commercial opportunities
Client & Supplier Management
- Manage all client accounts, with particular focus on key accounts
- Develop and maintain strong, ethical, and strategic supplier partnerships
- Negotiate favourable commercial terms with suppliers and clients
Inventory & Operational Control
- Oversee stock management including stock levels, turnover, shrinkage, and expiry control
- Ensure optimal product availability while minimising excess and obsolete stock
Growth & Strategic Development
- Identify market trends and growth opportunities within the retail sector
- Implement strategies to increase market share and customer retention
- Develop and execute promotional and sales initiatives to drive revenue growth
- Work closely with the Marketing Department to align campaigns and commercial strategies
What We’re Looking For
- Proven senior leadership experience in Malta within retail, FMCG, or a related commercial sector
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and commercial KPIs
- Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and margin improvement
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities
- A hands-on, results-oriented leadership style
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- A proactive mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement
