Merchandise Manager

  Central Malta  |  Up to €35,000 Annually 

A dynamic and fast-paced organisation specialising in promotional items and branded merchandise is seeking a motivated Merchandise Team Manager to lead and grow their production team. This is a crucial, on-site role that requires a blend of strong leadership, operational excellence, and problem-solving skills, acting as a key support to the Head of Print & Merchandise.

The Main Responsibilities include: 

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage the merchandise team. Foster a positive, collaborative culture focused on communication and teamwork. Conduct team check-ins, performance reviews, and training initiatives with the Head of Print & Merchandise.
  • Operational Management: Oversee team schedules, production planning, and resource allocation across projects. Provide structure, direction, and support to ensure timely and high-quality output. Track and report on team performance, capacity, and client feedback to drive improvement.
  • Process Implementation: Act as the first point of contact for the team on operational issues or challenges. Implement processes that promote efficiency, accountability, and consistency. Strengthen existing processes and set up new ones where needed.
  • Stakeholder Support & Sales: Collaborate with the Head of Print & Merchandise to align team efforts with client expectations and sales goals. Assist the Head, taking queries, going to clients, and representing the department when the Head is not available. Possess sales flair and the element of taking decisions on behalf of the Head (e.g., granting discounts).
  • Project Execution & Follow-up: Maintain oversight of multiple merchandise projects simultaneously, stepping in when needed. Ensure follow-through after placing orders with suppliers. Update clients and always give timely feedback. Ensure quotations are released first, as clients are lost otherwise.
  • Problem-Solving: Act as a problem-solver. Must be willing to supply whatever clients ask for and try their best not to say no

Working Hours:

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30/9:00 AM to 5:00/5:30 PM.

Flexibility: As the role involves managing production and shipping timelines , there may be times when working beyond standard hours is required to meet deadlines, particularly during busy periods

Requirements

  • Mobility: This role requires a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle. A Maltese driving license is required
  • Must have good communication skills with the head of merchandising.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident in decision-making, delegating, and holding others accountable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in merchandise production, sourcing, or vendor management.
  • Knowledge of supply chains, logistics, and quality control.
  • Tech Savvy: Experience using project-management and scheduling tools.
  • Training in leadership or team development.

Benefits

  • Commission: Expected commission of around €10,000 extra per year, The first payout of commission is after a year, then every quarter after the first year
