A growing business operating in the food ingredients industry, providing expertise in raw material sourcing, additive functionality and quality support to food manufacturers is looking to recruit a Food Technology Specialist to join their team.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize food formulations and processing parameters to achieve consistent product quality, performance, and efficiency, including improvements in yield, texture, structure, sliceability, stability, sensory attributes, and shelf life across a range of food applications
Lead and support ingredient and additive trials, pilot studies, and production scale-ups, translating laboratory results into commercially viable manufacturing processes.
Develop, document, and maintain technical specifications, formulations, standard operating procedures, and detailed technical reports to support production, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Provide technical support to customers and internal teams through product troubleshooting, process optimization, and performance evaluation in real production environments.
Support regulatory and quality systems through documentation and compliance activities, including HACCP principles, allergen management, labeling requirements, traceability, and food safety standards.
Contribute to research and development initiatives for new products, formulations, and processing technologies, from concept development through final commercial implementation.
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure successful product development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
Support claim substantiation and technical validation for product performance, functionality, and quality attributes.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or closely related
Solid fundamentals in Food chemistry, Microbiology, basic shelf-life principles and Food processing engineering
5+ years in meat/poultry processing & applications
Hands-on experience with functional food ingredients and additives, including formulation trials, process optimization, and technical documentation to improve product quality and shelf life.
Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, allergen controls, basic labelling constraints
Open to travelling
Fluent in English, written and spoken. Fluency in other languages will be considered a strong asset
