Experts on Vulnerability and Unaccompanied children

Location: Athens

Category Salary ΙII: Gross monthly - 2.261,11 Euros

The Experts on Vulnerability and Unaccompanied children work under the coordination of the Greek authorities. The main tasks of each sub-profile are presented below. A full job description will be shared prior to taking up duties.  

1. Vulnerability Assistants

  • Contribute to the design of interventions and activities in the field of vulnerability, including by planning and conseptualising targeted support projects, preparing and updating relevant project management documents, analysing and identifying funding possibilities, etc; 
  • Support the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons and Institutional Protection (GSVPIP) in the coordination and implementation of activities in different areas of GSVPIP responsibility, including support, accommodation and referral for vulnerable groups, including victims of Trafficking of Human Beings and violence and institutional protection; 
  • Support GSVPIP in the development and implementation of SOPs, processes, workflows, referral pathways and operational tools related to vulnerability and unaccompanied children based on international, European and national legal framework;
  • Support GSVPIP in monitoring the implementation of its projects and activities, including program evaluation and quality improvement efforts;
  • Support the GSVPIP in cooperation and liaison with other services and actors, ensuring the coordination of activities related to vulnerability.

2. UAC Assistants

  • Assist GSVPIP in the implementation of operations and activities related to unaccompanied children, in the scope of the GSVPIP responsibilities and mandate, including National Guardianship system, Best Interest Procedures, UAC placements and accommodation, referral, monitoring and evaluation of accommodation facilities;
  • Support GSVPIP in planning, organising and following-up specific daily activities, as requested;
  • Provide operational and practical support in the implementation of specific daily activities, as requested;  
  • Support GSVPIP in the implementation of SOPs, processes, workflows, referral pathways and operational tools related to unaccompanied children;
  • Support GSVPIP in monitoring the implementation of its projects and activities, including compiling daily and weekly statistics and reports and provide inputs for briefing requests, state of play of the activities;
  • Support the GSVPIP in cooperation and liaison with other services and actors, ensuring the coordination of activities related to unaccompanied children.

3. Planning Assistant in the area of Vulnerability and Unaccompanied Children

  • Support the GSVPIP in project management of various activities on vulnerability and UAC protection; 
  • Support the development of project documents, project reports, specific reports and other documents; 
  • Provide support to GSVPIP in all areas of programme cycle, notably planning, designing, budget drafting, implementation, monitoring and reporting for activities and projects on the protection of Vulnerable persons and Unaccompanied minors under GSVPIP; guidelines and tools as required for the planning, monitoring and overall follow-up of the actions funded by the European Commission (EC) or other funding mechanisms and implemented by GSVPIP;
  • Support GSVPIP in project and activity planning especially regarding EU and national funding tools; in operating the national financial information systems; financial and project planning/management cycle; management of funds; procurement; partnership management; and reporting.

Requirements:

  • University degree – preferred and advantageous; For all profiles preferably in the area of social work, psychology, social sciences, law; for profile 3 also in the area of finance/management; 
  • Sound demonstrated previous experience in relevant tasks is required; 
  • Very good understanding of the Greek migration and reception context; 
  • Fluency in Greek and in English (oral and written); 
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel), use of internet and web-based applications; 
  • Very good intercultural/interdisciplinary communication skills; 
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills; 
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure.
