Commercial Director

  Central Malta  |  €160,000 - €175,000 Annually 

A highly renowned client of ours specialised in the FMCG and Manufacturing sectors is looking to onboard a Commercial Director to join their team. The designated person will be working closely with the CEO, and responsibilities are as follows;

Duties:

  • Define market, channel, and customer priorities to drive distribution expansion and profitability, developing and executing the European and international growth strategy for the branded portfolio
  • Lead annual brand plans, commercial forecasts, pricing architecture, and trade investment strategies, also overseeing competitive analysis, category reviews, and consumer insight programs.
  • Create dashboards and KPIs to monitor brand health, sales performance, and marketing ROI.
  • Champion market intelligence and business insights to guide resource allocation and strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee integrated marketing campaigns, digital activation, PR, and trade communication initiatives.
  • Ensure commercial activation, promotional plans, and trade marketing support strengthen brand value and deliver ROI.
  • Lead the innovation pipeline for branded and private-label products, identifying category trends and whitespace opportunities.
  • Guide concept development, consumer validation, packaging updates, and line extensions with Sales teams, & Operations.
  • Lead market development efforts, including distributor negotiations, retail listings, promotions, and expansion into high-potential geographies, overseeing pricing, margin management, and product mix optimisation by market.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Finance, and Production to ensure profitable execution of branded strategies and accurate demand planning.
  • Lead and develop teams across brand management, innovation, communication, and branded sales, as well as recruit, mentor, and upskill talent, ensuring high performance and cross- functional effectiveness.
  • Foster strong collaboration between marketing and sales functions to ensure seamless commercial implementation.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive marketing and/or commercial leadership experience in FMCG, food, or beverage sectors.
  • Must have excllent vernal and written communication skills in both English and Italian
  • Available and willing to travel 4 times weekly ( Mon-Thurs) to Italy, or able to relocate
  • Proven success building consumer brands across multiple European markets and leading international expansion.
  • Experience managing branded P&Ls and leading cross-functional teams, including commercial and marketing roles.
  • Proficiency with market analysis tools, CRM systems, and sales/marketing performance dashboards.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, International Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
