Our client is a leading financial services company in Malta. They would like to engage a Head of Legal to join their team. The Head of Legal is a senior executive role reporting to the Group CEO, responsible for delivering strategic legal leadership across the organisation.
The Role
The role focuses on developing systems and frameworks to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice while managing regulatory risk and ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies.
You will ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and provides high-quality legal guidance across a broad range of matters.
Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, managing disputes, overseeing external legal advisors, and controlling the legal budget.
The role also involves preparing legal and risk reports for senior management and board committees and keeping leadership informed about legislative developments.
From a governance perspective, the Head of Legal oversees corporate governance practices, internal controls, Solvency II requirements, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining strong relationships with regulators and industry bodies.
The position promotes a culture of ethics, transparency, and compliance throughout the organisation.
Candidates must hold a Law degree with a Maltese practicing warrant, have relevant experience in financial services (insurance preferred), and demonstrate strong leadership, commercial awareness, integrity, and communication skills.
