Our client is an insurance company who is looking for a diligent Risk Manager to join their Malta team and manage the Risk Management Function.
What you'll be doing
Maintain and continuously enhance the Company’s Risk Management Framework, systems, and processes in line with Solvency II requirements, including maintaining the Risk Register and monitoring adherence to the Risk Appetite Statement.
Lead the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, including stress testing and scenario analysis, and provide regular risk reporting to the Board and Executive Committee on risk exposures, emerging risks, and limit breaches.
Coordinate and prepare regulatory reporting, including the Solvency and Financial Condition Report (SFCR) and Regular Supervisory Report (RSR), ensuring alignment with the Company’s risk profile and solvency position.
Provide independent risk advice to the Board and Senior Management on strategic initiatives, new products, distribution arrangements, and outsourced activities, including Managing General Agents (MGAs).
Promote a strong risk culture across the organisation and collaborate closely with key functions including Internal Audit, Actuarial, Compliance, Underwriting, and Finance.
Oversee governance and compliance responsibilities including monitoring investment parameters, maintaining Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans (BCP/DRP), overseeing complaints management, and acting as Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
Requirements
5+ years experience in Risk Management, preferably in the insurance industry
Must be PQ'd by the MFSA, or eligible to be PQ'd
Knowledge of the insurance market, underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local regulatory environments and guidelines will considered an asset
Willingness to take responsibility
Good relationship building, active listening, needs analysis and advanced analytical skills
Ability to meet strict deadlines and produce high quality work
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (MQF Level 6) or equivalent in Risk Management, Banking, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field
