Director of Events Operations

  Central Malta  |  €55,000 - €65,000 Annually 

A client of ours operating in the Entertainment and Leisure industry is looking to onboard a Director of Events Operations to join their team. The designated person will form part of senior management and will nurture an internal climate of continuous improvement within the organisation, with a keen eye towards the end-to-end customer experience.

Duties:

  • Plan and support the event management team with the design and execution of the Company's strategic event delivery business plan in alignment with company goals
  • Measure productivity and ensure targets are met by analysing performance and financial data
  • Ensure that all applicable laws, corporate standards and branding guidelines are followed
  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients throughout the full lifecycle of the event planning and execution
  • Be accountable for the smooth running of the Company's events delivery locally and internationally
  • Oversee ongoing operational efficiency and steer continuous improvement initiatives to ensure profitable and successful client event delivery
  • Identify, engage and manage relationships with suppliers, venues and vendors within the Company’s sourcing framework, consistently seeking to negotiate exceptional quality at favourable negotiated rates
  • Determine and plan for human capital requirements and other resources as needed for successful event delivery
  • Provide direction to the event management team in planning and executing events (creation of proposals, budgets, site visits, event operational planning and logistical arrangements, billing and revenue collection, post-event reviews, and reporting)
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and related quality control measures are meticulously followed
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members whilst managing multiple projects
  • Develop structured training programmes for team members
  • Together with the Director of Sales, attend travel fairs, workshops, and business trips to meet existing and prospective clients, promote the company, build brand awareness and follow up on any leads generated

Requirements

  • Experience in Hotel Management, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, Events Management and/or Sales will be preferred
  • Knowledge of Malta, its geography and venues will be considered an asset
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, and preferably one other European language
  • Must be in posession of a valid driving licence
  • Be detail orientated and have excellent strategic planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Be flexible and available to work outside normal working hours

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, Event Management or relevant OR 5+ years of experience managing operational delivery
  • Any hospitality qualification would be considered an asset
