Health & Safety Coordinator

Our client, a leading local aviation company, is looking to recruit a Health & Safety Coordinator to join their growing team. Reporting to the head of the department, the chosen candidate will be responsible to:

  • Assist in ensuring that the company adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Authority Act, relevant regulations, industry standards, and codes;
  • Conduct regular routine inspections of buildings, facilities, and equipment to assess compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards;
  • Support compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety risk assessments to help the Health and Safety Manager make informed decisions;
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety, including inspection reports and incident records;
  • Assist in complying with applicable laws and regulations, ensuring health and safety inspection reports are compiled and maintained;
  • Evaluate subcontractors' risk assessments and safe work method statements to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) documentation requirements;

  • Assist in providing OHS training and competency development for company personnel to enhance awareness and adherence to safety protocols;
  • Offer support to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager and provide advice on HSE-related issues;
  • Promote incident prevention to safeguard the well-being of employees and visitors by identifying and mitigating potential risks;
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the HSE Manager in alignment with the organization's safety goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Proficiency in creating, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Experience in conducting safety training sessions and workshops for employees to increase awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey safety information to employees, management, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address safety challenges and recommend effective solutions.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • OSHA Certification: Preferred or required, demonstrating knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • At least 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Basic first aid and CPR certification is often required.
