Our client, a leading manufacturing and distribution company is seeking an experienced and proactive EHS Manager to lead and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System. Reporting to the Head of Plant & Supply Chain and leading a team, the role ensures compliance with local legislation, ISO standards, and corporate requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture. The position also includes internal auditing across quality, food safety, and environmental systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and improve the Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
Identify risks, maintain controls, procedures, and documentation.
Monitor and communicate legal H&S obligations to staff and contractors.
Develop annual EHS plans and budgets.
Support internal and external audits for H&S and related standards.
Develop and deliver H&S training programs.
Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
Conduct inspections of suppliers, contractors, and on-site operations.
Audit quality (ISO 9001), food safety (FSSC 22000), and environmental systems (ISO 14001) in collaboration with relevant teams.
Support environmental management initiatives and emergency preparedness.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a similar role within the same or related industry.
Proven experience managing and leading a team.
Strong knowledge of Maltese H&S legislation and ISO systems.
Experience in incident investigation, auditing, and H&S procedure development.
Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
Strong organisational, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
Must hold an excellent level of written and verbal English
Candidate must already be based in Malta, with the legal right to work in Malta
Education and Experience
Degree or qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
NEBOSH or IOSH certification highly preferred.
OHSA Malta registration (or working toward it) preferred.
