Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursing Manager to join their large, care home. This is a senior leadership position, acting as the second-in-charge and reporting directly to the General Manager.
The successful candidate will oversee the entire nursing and care department , leading the teams to ensure the highest standards of clinical intervention and resident care. This role is crucial in supporting a primarily private market.
The Main Responsibilities will include:
Clinical Leadership & Resident Care
- Lead, mentor, and deliver training for the nursing and care staff.
- Oversee all nursing queries and manage any resident or relative complaints effectively.
- Manage resident admissions , including conducting pre-admission assessments.
- Ensure all clinical documentation and care plans are correctly audited and maintained.
- Handle clinical handovers, especially for residents discharged from the hospital.
- Liaise with consultants and manage referrals for allied health professionals.
- Oversee medication management protocols and infection control policies.
- Ensure the team is proficient in clinical tasks such as peg feeds and subcutaneous treatments.
Operational & Staff Management
- Manage and create the nursing staff rosters.
- Lead the recruitment and interviewing process for nurses and carers.
- Manage the departmental budget , including ordering consumables and controlling staff-hour costs.
- Handle administrative tasks such as submitting POYC applications.
- Deputise for the General Manager in their absence
Working Hours
This is a full-time position, working 5 days per week. The schedule includes working one Saturday on and one Saturday off, alternating this responsibility with the General Manager.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse.
- Must be fully computer proficient.
- Flexibility is required for occasional on-call duties during the night and for presence at resident events.
Education and Experience
- Proven leadership experience gained specifically within a care home environment.
- Demonstrable experience in managing, training, and developing a clinical team.
- Experience in dealing with a private clientele and high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong background in managing staff rosters and departmental budgets.
- Experience in handling resident admissions and liaising with external consultants and allied health teams.
