Risk Manager

A client of ours specialised in Financial Services is looking to onboard a Risk Manager to join their team of professionals:

Duties:

• Support clients in the development of risk appetite statements, risk registers, and key risk indicators (KRIs).
• Conduct risk-based reviews and thematic assessments tailored to the client’s regulatory profile and operational model.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks, including risk identification, risk assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
• Support internal review processes to validate the effectiveness of risk management systems.
• Advise clients on regulatory, operational, reputational, and strategic risks in line with applicable MFSA Rulebooks and EU standards.
• Present risk findings to the board and senior management, and support remediation efforts accordingly.
• Participate in client meetings, regulatory briefings, and risk governance forums as appropriate
• Lead internal audit assignments covering areas of risk governance and internal controls.
• Support the growth of the firm’s risk advisory service line, including the onboarding of new clients and delivery of tailored proposals.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in a risk management, preferably within financial services
• Eligibility and readiness to act as the Risk Manager on behalf of client entities, subject to approval.
• In-depth understanding of Maltese and EU regulatory expectations regarding risk governance.
• Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deliver consistently high-quality work.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in risk or internal audit (e.g., IRM, FRM, CIA) is preferred.
