A client of ours, specialised within the hospitality industry, is looking to onboard an Accountant to join their team. The designated person will be working closely with the Group Financial Controller, and will support the financial management of the business as required:
Duties:
Monitor and reconcile Accounts and City Ledger balances, including following-up on outstanding payments, conducting revenue reconciliations and ensuring accurate posting to the General Ledger.
Manage credit card reconciliations and ensure timely clearing of transactions.
Perform daily income audits and verify revenue across all operational areas, including Rooms, Food and Beverage, and Spa.
Supervise and verify stock takes and maintain effective stock control processes, performing supplier reconciliations related to stock purchases.
Review purchase authorisations to ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures.
Conduct periodic audits of cash tills and petty cash.
Prepare and maintain accrual and prepayment schedules to support accurate month-end reporting.
Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparation of management accounts.
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and manage monthly depreciation schedules.
Monitor construction-related cash flows and assist in tracking liquidity requirements.
Perform reconciliations for service suppliers and ensure appropriate authorisation of service expenses.
Provide finance support to subsidiary companies within the group when required, maintaining accurate financial data within finance systems
Identify opportunities to improve finance workflows and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives.
Requirements
Previous experience in a finance role within the hospitality industry is considered an advantage.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in english
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
Familiarity with Maltese company law and statutory financial compliance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies
Education and Experience
Partly qualified or fully qualified accountant with relevant hands on experience
