Our client is an international client who is setting up base in Malta. They operate in the oil industry and have offices in a number of countries. They require a Diesel Trader Officer to execute international trades of diesel. The chosen candidate will mainly be coordinating with the Dutch office in this role. The following are the Key Responsibilities:
1. Diesel Trading Operations:
- Execute international trades of diesel (especially EN590 10ppm), including spot and long-term contracts.
- Manage CIF, FOB, and Tank-to-Tank (TTT) operations with terminals in Rotterdam, UAE, USA, or other hubs.
- Negotiate and secure competitive offers from verified sellers, refineries, or mandates.
2. Client & Supplier Management:
- Source and qualify reliable diesel buyers and sellers, ensuring thorough KYC/AML compliance.
- Maintain and expand a network of brokers, agents, terminals, and storage facility operators.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders across Europe, MENA, Asia, and Africa.
3. Documentation & Contract Management:
- Draft and review ICPOs, FCOs, Commercial Invoices (CI), Draft Contracts, POP/POPET documents, and SPA agreements.
- Ensure timely and accurate handling of documents like Bill of Lading (BL), Certificate of Origin, Q&Q, SGS/CIQ reports.
- Coordinate LC/SBLC processes with banks or financiers and validate instrument conditions.
4. Risk & Compliance:
- Monitor price volatility, geopolitical shifts, and counterparty risks to make informed trading decisions.
- Ensure all operations are compliant with global sanctions (EU, OFAC), export laws, and internal policies.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to assess trade risks and mitigate exposure.
5. Market Intelligence & Strategy:
- Analyze diesel market trends, shipping rates, arbitrage windows, and regional demand cycles.
- Develop pricing models and optimize trading strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and webinars to maintain market presence.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of trade finance instruments: SBLC, DLC, Performance Bonds, Escrow, etc.
- Fluent in English (mandatory); additional languages like Russian, Arabic, or French are advantageous.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsive to fast-paced trading demands.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Energy Economics, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years experience in refined product trading, especially diesel EN590.
- Strong knowledge of international oil trade documentation, INCOTERMS, and logistic flows.
- Proven ability to close deals, manage end-to-end trade cycles, and work under pressure.
- Ethical, discreet, and results-driven.
