Chief Engineer (North of Malta)

A leading company requires the services of a Chief Engineer who will oversee the engineering function both for the construction of their hotel and the subsequent operational phases after its completion.   

The Role

• In the construction phase, you will work with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure all MEP systems and infrastructure meet brand standards.
• You will review and approve engineering plans, supervise system installations, and lead testing and commissioning processes.
• During the pre-opening phase, the Chief Engineer establishes preventive maintenance procedures and secures necessary utility contracts and permits. You will manage snagging processes, procure tools and spare parts, and help recruit the engineering team.
• You will also compile handover documentation and serve as the hotel’s Fire Officer and Health & Safety Officer. You will ensure that all pre-opening areas comply with fire life safety and health standards.
• Post-opening, the Chief Engineer manages all maintenance operations, ensuring equipment reliability and guest safety.
• You will lead the engineering team, respond to maintenance requests, and implement preventive programs to reduce downtime.
• The role includes budgeting, energy management, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• You will collaborate across departments to optimize operations and guest satisfaction.
• Sustainability is a key focus, with responsibilities including creating a green policy and achieving eco-certifications.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree
• You must have a minimum of 5 years experience in hotel engineering leadership
• Possess strong technical and commuication skills
