Asset Performance Excellence Lead

  South of Malta  |  €40,000 - €45,000 Annually 

Our client who operates in Manufacturing is looking for an Engineer to support them with bridging the Operations & Engineering department. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, availability, and overall production performance.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Planning teams to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement of equipment effectiveness (OEE) by identifying and eliminating recurring losses.
  • Investigate equipment failures and performance issues using structured problem-solving methods such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5-Why, Fishbone, A3, and FMEA.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production speeds, reduce changeover times, and improve start-up and shutdown processes.
  • Champion Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices across the organization.
  • Establish and maintain autonomous maintenance routines, equipment care standards, centerlines, and abnormality management processes.
  • Ensure preventive, condition-based, and predictive maintenance activities are effectively planned and executed.
  • Continuously review and optimize maintenance plans, intervals, and scopes.
  • Develop asset criticality assessments and reliability-centered maintenance strategies for different equipment categories.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, equipment histories, bills of materials, and maintenance data within the CMMS system.
  • Lead FMEA studies and manage spare parts strategies, including critical spare identification and obsolescence planning.
  • Monitor and improve key reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, failure rates, maintenance costs, and asset throughput.
  • Act as the main point of contact for asset availability and production constraints affecting planning activities.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production schedules.
  • Facilitate regular cross-functional meetings and ensure action items are completed.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures, safety standards, lockout/tagout requirements, permits, and SOPs are followed and kept up to date.
  • Support audits, regulatory compliance activities, and accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Promote safety improvements through risk assessments and reliability-focused initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement and kaizen projects targeting breakdowns, speed losses, minor stops, changeovers, and start-up defects.
  • Train and coach operators and technicians on TPM, reliability practices, condition monitoring, and data analysis.
  • Support new equipment implementation by defining reliability requirements and participating in equipment acceptance and start-up processes.
  • Manage external service providers and establish service-level agreements linked to reliability performance.
  • Contribute to maintenance budgets, cost control efforts, and capital investment proposals based on reliability needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and Environmental Health & Safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in reliability, maintenance, or production engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven track record of improving TPM and OEE performance.
  • Experience using CMMS systems (e.g., Agility) and strong analytical skills using Excel and/or Power BI.
  • Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and maintenance strategy development.
