Architect Assistant

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Architect Assistant to support their team of architects, urban designers, and engineers in the creation of designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments. In this role, you will use high-level drawing skills to help design functional, safe, and sustainable spaces that are aesthetically pleasing.

The Main Responsibilities include: 

• Design & Planning (25%): Assist with research, programming, and design of client projects while applying knowledge of construction detailing, zoning, building codes, and materials.
• Surveys & Measurement (20%): Carry out physical measurement of works on-site.
• Visualisation & Documentation (15%): Prepare high-quality visualisations, feasibility studies, planning documentation, and proposal submissions.
• Research (15%): Conduct both desktop and field research to support project development.
• Administration (10%): Perform necessary practical and administrative duties to ensure smooth project flow.
• Technical Reporting & Estimating (10%): Prepare technical reports, proposals for authorities, estimates of works, and Bills of Quantities.
• General Support (5%): Provide ad-hoc assistance for specific architectural, urban design, or civil/structural jobs.

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM, Work is primarily based in a modern office environment but includes regular site visits.

Requirements

• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD and the Office Suite is required.
• Knowledge Base: Strong working knowledge of local planning policies and building regulations.
• Technical Skills: Excellent design and technical drawing skills.
• Field Work: Ability to conduct measured building surveys, attend site meetings/inspections, and provide detailed minutes or reports.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

• A minimum of MQF Level 4 qualification in construction engineering, quantity surveying, or an equivalent field
• Experience with Revit is desirable. Proficiency in SketchUp and Photoshop is also preferred.
• Technical Experience: Strong background in technical drawing, 3D modelling, and conducting site inspections.
• Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate is charismatic, social, creative, and capable of working independently.
