VP of Software Operations

Our client is looking for an exceptional and detail-driven VP of Software Operations to lead the development and scaling of a high-performing data platform and ML infrastructure. 

This is a key leadership position for someone passionate about on-time delivery, uncompromising data quality, and flawless execution. 

The role carries the mission of building a world-class software operations function that delivers near-perfect uptime and ensures data and predictions are accurate, timely, and reliable. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Data Delivery & Quality
    • Build and lead a function dedicated to flawless, on-time data delivery.
    • Design and implement zero-defect pipelines with multi-layer QA processes.
    • Develop automated validation systems, real-time monitoring dashboards, and industry-standard verification frameworks.
    • Manage integrations across databases for both R&D and customer queries.
    • Drive multimodal data integration, including wearable and clinical data sources.
  • Operational Responsibilities
    • Architect infrastructure designed for 99.999% uptime.
    • Ensure time-critical data processing reliability, even under peak loads.
    • Implement intelligent queuing, failsafe mechanisms, and delivery SLAs to guarantee on-schedule outputs.
  • ML Operations 
    • Establish model-as-a-service infrastructure with robust quality gates.
    • Implement automated testing and continuous validation pipelines for ML outputs.
    • Ensure reproducibility, auditability, and confidence scoring across predictions.
  • Regulatory & Compliance & Leadership
    • Strengthen and scale quality management systems (QMS).
    • Maintain and enhance ISO 13485, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance standards.
    • Lead regulatory audits focused on data integrity and accuracy.
    • Develop and oversee validation protocols to achieve pharmaceutical-grade quality.
    • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team.
    • Foster a culture of precision, pride, and ownership in meeting deadlines.
    • Develop leadership pipelines and ensure strong succession planning.
    • Define the long-term roadmap for data and ML infrastructure.
    • Oversee budget and resource allocation.
    • Communicate technical strategies in clear, business-impactful terms to executives and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of achieving 100% SLA compliance in data-critical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with pharmaceutical, clinical, or regulated data quality standards.
  • Expertise in high-throughput, high-accuracy data pipeline design.

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software operations, with proven success scaling systems from agile beginnings to enterprise-grade infrastructures.
  • Practical experience with Orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster), real-time data quality monitoring and alerting and automated validation and testing frameworks.
  • Previous experience in ML model monitoring and assurance pipelines, clinical data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM), multimodal data integration (e.g., wearables) and database integration for both R&D and customer-facing systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
