Our client, operating in Gaming, is looking for an experienced Data Architect to join their growing team: 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the organisation’s data platforms and architecture, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, high-performing, cost-efficient, and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Lead the transition of data platform ownership from external vendors to internal teams, facilitating a seamless handover and full adoption by the Platform and Data Team.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for optimisation, modernisation, and cost reduction within the data stack by designing, implementing, and monitoring effective solutions.
  • Administer MySQL Percona and other data platforms, managing Change Data Capture (CDC) processes, tuning system performance, optimizing storage, and ensuring high availability and operational efficiency.
  • Design and maintain an enterprise data management framework encompassing planning, acquisition, usage, archiving, retrieval, governance, and purging.
  • Collaborate with Platform and Data Engineers to establish and implement best practices in storage, CI/CD integration, data service architecture, and automation of provisioning, migrations, and recovery processes.
  • Develop self-service capabilities for developers, enhance system observability and logging, and implement comprehensive monitoring to track platform health, availability, and cost metrics.
  • Apply and enforce security best practices, including access controls, encryption, backups, recovery protocols, patching, and compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
  • Mentor engineers on best practices in data platform architecture and operations, ensuring alignment of data strategies with broader platform and development goals.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies through proof-of-concepts (PoCs), define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuously improve platform performance, security, and cost-efficiency while providing actionable insights to leadership.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in MySQL Percona and relational database technologies.
  • Strong scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and remove blockers.
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving data performance and operational issues across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing cost-efficient, scalable data solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with CDC tools, Elasticsearch, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data platform security practices and experience ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations.

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in data architecture.
  • Experience developing and executing strategies for migrating from on-premises databases to cloud-based Lakehouse architectures.
