We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for the position of Operations & Husbandry Officer to join their growing team. This role offers a great opportunity to be part of Malta’s thriving shipping and maritime industry, playing a key role in supporting daily vessel operations and ensuring the efficient coordination of services within Malta’s ports and territorial waters.
Full training will be provided to the selected candidate.
The chosen individual will also be part of an on-call operational roster, offering support during vessel activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of vessel operations in Malta’s ports, including arrivals, port stays, and departures.
- Manage vessel husbandry needs by providing logistical and operational support during port calls.
- Organise and supervise bunkering operations.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with shipping lines to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Collaborate with port terminals, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely service delivery.
- Keep accurate records and documentation for vessel operations and husbandry services.
- Assist with other operational tasks as required by the team.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Maltese and English (essential).
- Previous experience in vessel husbandry, port operations, or a similar maritime/logistics role is considered an asset.
- Minimum of secondary level education.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Keen interest in shipping, maritime operations, or logistics.
- Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn and use industry-specific software and tools.
