A reputable client of ours, specialised in the Finance Sector, is looking to onboard an MLRO to join their team of professionals. The designated person will report to the CEO, and will ensure that they identify, manage, and mitigate financial crime risks:
Duties:
- Act as the main point of contact with the Authorities/Regulators, including the submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs).
- Report to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee and CEO on AML/CFT risks, issues, and remedial actions.
- Maintain and oversee the Organisation's AML/CFT policies, controls, and risk-based approach.
- Ensure effective monitoring of customer transactions and the escalation of suspicious activity.
- Approve high-risk and PEP relationships in line with the Organisation's risk appetite.
- Lead, guide, and support the AML Officer to ensure consistent application of AML/CFT standards.
- Oversee the delivery of staff AML/CFT training and awareness programmes as required.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and ensure closure of findings related to AML/CFT compliance.
- Keep up to date with regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of changes.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT legislation, the PMLA, PMLFTR, and FIAU Implementing Procedures
- Local experience in AML, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role within banking or financial services.
- Impeccable analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Maltese
Education and Experience
- Must be in possession of a relevant qualification in Compliance, AML/CFT, or a related field
