Head of International Finance

  Central Malta  |  €65,000 - €75,000 Annually 

Our client, a leading insurance company in Malta is investing in the growth of their international programs and creating a senior finance leadership role to support this expansion. This role will oversee finance operations across international business.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead finance operations for all live international cells, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strong governance across the portfolio.
  • Own IFRS 17 management accounts and statutory reporting, including Solvency II QRTs, RSR/ORSA inputs, SCR monitoring, and regulator interactions.
  • Authorise and oversee treasury and asset management transactions in line with mandates and investment policies.
  • Drive automation and process improvements, leveraging tools and AI to simplify reporting packs, bordereaux, and reconciliations.
  • Serve as an approved person on cell committees and represent the business to boards, auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Shift oversight from individual accounts to portfolio-level KPIs and aggregated performance reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional team, setting high standards and shaping the future operating model.
  • Support new program growth through projections, due diligence, and licence applications, ensuring smooth onboarding to steady-state operations.

Requirements

  • Experienced in multi-entity/portfolio structures (PCC, fronting, MGA/captive, insurance management company, or carrier with multiple programs).
  • Comfortable managing treasury and asset administration, authorising payments within policy.
  • Excellent communicator, clear in written and verbal outputs, confident in board presentations, and composed under pressure.

Education and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, University Degree, or equivalent) with 7–10+ years in senior insurance finance roles within a Solvency II environment; confident in IFRS 17.
