Maritime & Yachting Industry Leader ⚓
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Group Financial Controller to assume a pivotal finance leadership role within a dynamic and expanding Yachting and Maritime Group of Companies.
This is a high-impact position, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and company Directors, centered on leading a major financial transition while ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and strategic reporting across the Group's diverse entities.
🎯 Core Responsibilities & Areas of Focus
- Provide direct oversight of the Accounts Executive, the Group Operations Administrator, and any other accounting staff under your remit. Manage team recruitment in consultation with leadership to resource the transition.
- Proactively identify, create, improve, and implement financial policies and procedures for management approval.
- Oversee the recording of all financial transactions and maintain/improve the General Ledger according to direction.
- Oversee daily bank reconciliations. Manage and record monthly accruals, prepayments, work-in-progress, and intra-company balance reports.
- Implement and maintain robust internal control systems.
- Establish and maintain recharge policies. Reconcile intercompany balances monthly, investigating and resolving mismatches.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and monthly financial statements (balance sheets and income statements).
- Track and analyze costs associated with cost of sales, operations, and Group projects.
- Quarterly conduct financial analysis to provide insights into performance, identify trends, and investigate/report discrepancies.
- Coordinate with auditors, CFO, and the Accounts Department to successfully close the Group Consolidated Audit.
- Ensure VAT and tax compliance and adherence to all accounting standards, laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the budgeting process and monitor/report on actual vs. budgeted variances monthly - track expenses, handle inventory valuation, and ensure accuracy of financial data in all systems.
- Set and implement cash flow threshold policies to ensure each entity has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations.
Requirements
- Previous experience within the hospitality or restaurant sector is considered an asset
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education and Experience
- Partially or fully qualified Accountant
