Financial Controller

Our client within the MEP contracting and maintenance business is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team 

Responsibilities: 

• Oversee the company’s finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective financial management across operations and projects.
• Prepare monthly and annual management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports.
• Monitor key financial indicators, project profitability, and overall business performance, providing insights to support management decisions.
• Manage project financials, including budgeting, cost tracking, and reviewing margins to ensure projects remain financially viable.
• Review project forecasts and financial progress with operational teams to ensure accurate reporting of costs and revenues.
• Oversee cash flow planning, working capital, and payment cycles with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Monitor financing arrangements, guarantees, and other project-related financial commitments.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies, while supporting audit processes.
• Implement and maintain strong financial controls, procedures, and reporting systems.
• Lead and support the finance team, encouraging collaboration with other departments and promoting continuous improvement within the finance function.

Requirements

• Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in local financial management, ideally 3 years in an MEP or construction environment.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition for contracting businesses (cost-to-cost, percentage-of-completion).
• Hands-on experience managing complex project accounting and multi-year contract cycles.
• Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel modelling.
• Strong knowledge of tax, audit processes, and regulatory compliance.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, ACA) preferred.
