A large group of companies is seeking a Financial Controller to support its growing finance function. Working closely with the CFO, this role will be responsible for overseeing core accounting operations across multiple entities while contributing to financial reporting, compliance and strategic financial planning.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger
Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, accruals, and journal entries in line with internal policies
Prepare monthly management accounts for a portfolio of companies, including variance analysis
Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines, including VAT and FSS filings and repayments
Support, supervise, and mentor junior accounts staff, ensuring accurate completion of tasks through to trial balance stage
Coordinate with HR and Payroll teams regarding onboarding, role changes, and movements within the finance function
Conduct annual performance reviews for finance staff, approve leave requests, and participate in interviews for internal recruitment where required
Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating information requests and supporting the year-end audit process
Assist the CFO with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and group consolidations
Develop, maintain and monitor internal financial controls to ensure compliance across the Group
Undertake ad hoc finance duties as required to support business operations and strategic objectives"
