Our client, operates in Retail, Real Estate & Hospitality would like to engage a Financial Controller to lead small finance team. You will report into the Senior Management team and Board of Directors. You will be based abroad and will be offered frequent visits to Malta. You need to be both hands on and strategic and sometimes be ready to do certain tasks that are usually done by a lower grade if the need arises.
The Role
- The Financial Controller oversees all accounting and financial functions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- You will serve as the company’s financial lead, maintaining data integrity, transparency, and accountability.
- You will deal directly with Senior Management, Department Heads to guide strategy and optimize financial outcomes.
- Core responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, controlling expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- You will prepares budgets, monthly forecasts, management accounts, and year-end financial statements.
- You will implement audit systems to monitor performance, budget adherence, and key financial metrics like income, expenses, and cost of sales.
- Cash flow forecasting, fund management, and ensuring compliance with loan covenants are critical aspects of the role.
- Ypu will advise senior management on financial matters and manage tax, debt, capital, and acquisition policies.
- You will analyze pricing strategies and collaborate with the Revenue Manager to boost cash flow and profitability.
- You will analyse and assess financial risks, identify irregularities, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements
- You will preferably be qualified in Accountancy
- You must have strong experience as a Financial Controller or you have strong experience as an Assistant Financial Controller and can take the next step up
- Experience in pharma, hospitality or similar sectors will be given preference
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in Excel and financial software, are essential.
- The role demands adaptability, ethical conduct, strategic thinking, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Challenges include managing cash flows, meeting ambitious targets, and engaging departments in cost control and financial awareness.
