Audit Director

A large CSP Malta is growing and looking for an experienced and strategic Audit Director to lead our internal audit team. This is a senior leadership position focused on strengthening internal controls, supporting risk management, and ensuring the business operates with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Set the long-term goals for the audit department and create plans to achieve them.
  • Help shape the overall direction of the company to match audit goals with company goals.
  • Oversee audit work for both local and international clients.
  • Give advice and insight on how clients can improve their financial reporting.
  • Make sure clients are happy by managing their audits well and listening to their feedback.
  • Take the lead role in key audit projects when needed.
  • Help grow company income by building strong client relationships and running efficient audits.
  • Look for new clients and help prepare proposals and presentations.
  • Keep an eye on audit department finances, including billing and payments.
  • Spot and manage any risks in the audit work or how the team operates.
  • Make sure all work follows professional rules, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Constantly find ways to improve how the audit team works and serves clients.
  • Lead and support audit managers, helping them grow and succeed.
  • Help with hiring, promoting staff, and building future leaders.
  • Create a team culture that is supportive, diverse, and focused on learning and growth.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of local progressive experience in audit, assurance, or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of the following frameworks: GAPSME IFRS ISA
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence at senior stakeholder level, including Boards and Audit Committees.
  • Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities, with experience in talent development and succession planning.

Education and Experience

  • Must be in possession of an MQF level 7 qualification (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field.
