Assistant Finance Manager

  Central Malta  |  Up to €37,000 Annually 

An international company is looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to lead and monitor the financial operations of one of their entities abroad as well as support the local team with the Maltese entity when necessary. The chosen candidate will benefit from great exposure to foreign regulations and accounting standards while working closely with Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the foreign entity.
  • Preparing the annual financial statements and supporting the audit process.
  • Prepare and close quarterly, and annual accounts.
  • Formulating budgets, forecasts and other financial plans.
  • Assist the foreign office with financial planning, analysis and any other ad-hoc reporting tasks.
  • Ensuring payments are made and received in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support cash flow management, including forecasts and reconciliations.
  • Handle accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Identifying simplification, automation, and cost-reduction opportunities within the business.
  • Overseeing of VAT returns and assistance with relevant tax returns.
  • Liaising with third parties for proper payroll calculations and payments.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders as required.

Requirements

  • Previous local experience in a mid-level accounting role
  • Experience working with UK regulations will be considered a strong asset
  • Fluency in English. Maltese-speaking is preferred but not a must-have
  • Curious, meticulous and able to work independently

Education and Experience

  • Partly qualified or actively studying ACCA
