We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to support our growing international operations. This role is responsible for IFRS-compliant financial reporting, Maltese regulatory accounting requirements, and VAT coordination, while overseeing payroll activities across multiple jurisdictions as an input to financial reporting. The role works closely with external payroll providers, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial results across entities in the US, Malta, Italy, and other countries, including Employer of Record arrangements.
Duties include:
Prepare and review monthly accounting entries and reconciliations in accordance with IFRS, including payroll-related accruals, provisions, and statutory charges
Support month-end close processes across multiple entities and currencies.
Ensure compliance with Maltese regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management reporting and audit purposes.
Process semi-monthly US payroll using ADP or other designated payroll systems, ensuring
accuracy of earnings, deductions, benefits, and employer taxes.
Oversee and validate payroll outputs prepared by third-party providers in Malta, Italy, and other jurisdictions.
Review and validate EOR payroll statements and contracts across multiple countries.
Ensure payroll data is accurately reflected in the general ledger and financial statements.
Liaise with external VAT advisors to review and validate VAT calculations and ensure correct
accounting treatment.
Support monthly and quarterly VAT reporting processes, including reconciliation of VAT- related balances.
Maintain awareness of changes in EU and Maltese VAT regulations affecting payroll-related and employee expense activity.
Requirements
5+ years accounting experience with global payroll exposure
A locally warranted accountant
Strong IFRS knowledge; European VAT experience (Malta + at least one additional EU country)
Experience in processing US Payroll
Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting
