Our client, an international company is seeking to recruit for an Accountant. The Accountant will be responsible for completing daily and monthly processes to support and prepare both analysis and accounting consolidation, in close collaboration with the broader Finance team. This role will also involve regular interaction with external stakeholders and the inhouse tax specialist. You will report into the Group Accounting Consolidation Manager.
Duties include:
- Documenting processes for all daily and monthly tasks in SAP and reconciliation including audit trail and review process
- Entering invoices into the SAP accounting system for Group entities
- Conducting daily bank reconciliation and allocating receipts/payments to appropriate sub- ledgers,
- Assisting the Senior Accounts Manager with calculations related to Basis Risk, DFL exposure, FX, trader performance and updating of latest estimates accordingly, and Compiling and preparing the weekly payment schedule
- Preparing monthly trial balances
- Reconciling bank accounts, prepayments, accruals, leases, fixed assets register and depreciation schedules
- Assisting the senior accounts manager in preparing derivative files and booking
- Supporting the estimation of monthly refinery exposure and performance,
- Conducting four-eyes checks on stock revaluation and postings, including reconciliation of refinery accounts to mass balance
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Prepare reports, and support company audits
- Creating monthly management information packs with commentary for board reporting by entity,
- Assisting in the delivery of audited financial statements within three months of year-end
- Preparing annual financial statements in local GASP and under IFRS ensuring consistency
- Compiling quarterly and annual reporting schedules
- Responding to queries on financial statements, including both financial and non-financial matters
- Coordinating with the Group Consolidation Accountant to confirm requirements and deadlines for quarterly and annual consolidation, including financial and non-financial statutory audit data
- Preparing and uploading company schedules into Lucanet (Group consolidation tool) the ensuring all agreed disclosures and deliverables are met,
- Managing quarterly intercompany balance reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and responding to queries.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qual experience, ideally within a commodities company, preferably Oil & Gas,
- Demonstrable experience preparing management and statutory accounts, managing audit and tax processes,
