Our client is looking to onboard a Production Manager responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the production department, ensuring all manufacturing activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The role involves planning production schedules, supervising the production team, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring projects are delivered on time while maximising productivity and minimising waste.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, prioritise, and coordinate daily production activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and resources are utilised effectively
- Allocate work across production teams and machine operators according to workload, capacity, and project deadlines
- Review incoming orders, establish production priorities, and ensure materials are prepared and available before production commences
- Inspect slabs and raw materials prior to production, assessing their suitability and making technical decisions on material selection and production methods
- Monitor production quality throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring finished products meet company standards and customer requirements
- Lead, supervise, and support the production team by providing technical guidance, resolving operational issues, and ensuring production procedures are consistently followed
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of production machinery, including CNC, Waterjet, Edge Polishers, and other equipment, providing programming, troubleshooting, and operational support when required
- Monitor machine performance, coordinate routine maintenance, and liaise with the Maintenance Department to minimise equipment downtime
- Collaborate with the Sales, Logistics, and Installation teams to ensure efficient workflow, effective communication, and successful project delivery
- Participate in Operations Meetings, providing production updates, identifying challenges, and implementing agreed action plans
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies while maintaining a clean, organised, and safe production environment
- Monitor stock levels, communicate procurement requirements, and track production waste to support efficient operations and waste reduction initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, workflow efficiency, machine utilisation, and overall operational performance
Requirements
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management abilities
- Sound technical knowledge of stone manufacturing processes and production equipment, an engineering background will be considered a plus
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Excellent cross-functional coordination and communication skills in both English & Maltese
