An established financial institution is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their technology team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and managing mission-critical IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, high availability, and strong security posture across enterprise network environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in data, voice, and cloud networks alongside strong analytical skills, project management discipline, and the readiness to participate in an on-call support rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, manage, and monitor enterprise data, voice, IoT, and cloud network infrastructure while maintaining strict adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Lead technical architectural reviews for proposed solutions and requests for change to ensure alignment with security policies and industry best practices.
- Provide active monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution across core switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to guarantee high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous operational support for critical bank infrastructure.
- Oversee IT disaster recovery planning and execution while maintaining accurate network blueprints and technical documentation.
- Manage technology suppliers, prepare procurement specifications, and drive infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.
- Mentor junior team members, share technical knowledge, and collaborate across departments to achieve shared technology goals.
Please note that this is an urgent vacancy with a short hiring timeline. As a result, we are currently seeking candidates already based in Malta who have the legal right to work without requiring a new work permit or a work permit transfer
Requirements
- 7 years of experience managing complex IT enterprise networks and telephony infrastructure.
- Hold advanced expertise in TCP/IP, switching, routing with BGP and OSPF, enterprise ISP multi-homing, and network segmentation.
- Maintain strong hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, network load balancing, and cloud networking technologies.
- Show practical experience with SIP gateways, enterprise IP telephony, and hypervisor virtual networking environments.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call support schedule.
- Based in Malta with local experience.

Education and experience
- A Degree/Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE and Azure are considered a distinct advantage.
