The Head of IT reports directly to the CEO, reflecting the critical role technology plays in the organisation's operations. This position is responsible for leading the IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring technology supports business objectives while meeting regulatory and security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the organisation's IT strategy in line with business objectives.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of technology platforms and digital initiatives.
- Advise senior management on emerging technologies, technology risks, and innovation opportunities.
- Establish and maintain an IT governance framework aligned with regulatory and business requirements, including DORA and GDPR.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of all IT systems and services.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure, networks, end-user devices, and enterprise applications.
- Manage IT service providers, technology partners, and operational KPIs.
- Maintain and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Lead the organisation's cybersecurity strategy and risk management framework.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including DORA, GDPR, MFSA requirements and ISO 27001.
- Oversee cyber risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and security awareness programmes.
- Maintain IT policies, procedures, and audit readiness.
- Report technology and cybersecurity risks to senior management and the Board.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior IT leadership role within the financial services sector, including team management.
- Strong experience with cloud technologies and cybersecurity.
- Project Management qualification.
- Sound knowledge of European regulatory frameworks and financial services compliance requirements.
- Experience managing IT budgets, vendors, and technology projects.
- Local experience and currently living and working in Malta.
