Our client is looking to onboard a Quantity Surveyor with proven experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) contracting. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and valuing works, preparing and submitting payment applications, managing variations and contractual claims, and working closely with project and finance teams to ensure effective commercial management of projects.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an organized electronic filing and document management system for each project
- Coordinate site visits with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders as required
- Plan and prioritize workloads to meet project, commercial, and reporting deadlines
- Measure and value completed works, ensuring quantities are accurately recorded and supported by approved drawings, site records, and contract documentation
- Carry out quantity take-offs and site measurements using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard software
- Prepare Bills of Quantities, monthly payment applications, and supporting documentation in accordance with contractual requirements
- Monitor, assess, and manage variations, additional works, and contractual claims, ensuring all entitlements are accurately documented and submitted
- Follow up with clients and consultants to facilitate the timely certification and approval of payment applications
- Monitor material deliveries to site and ensure they align with project requirements
- Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, Estimators, the Accounts Department, clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate valuation of works, timely invoicing, payment reconciliation, and effective commercial management of projects
- Prepare commercial reports, forecasts, budgets, cost analyses, and other management reports as required by senior management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, and all applicable health and safety legislation
- Promote a professional, respectful, and safe working environment, reporting any non-compliance, hazards, or inappropriate workplace behaviour in accordance with company policies
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within the construction or MEP industry
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction is an asset
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CAD/BIM, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Sound knowledge of construction contracts, quantity surveying, and commercial practices
- Ability to prepare cost estimates, valuations, and commercial reports
- Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and communication skills
