On behalf of our client, we are recruiting a proactive and commercially driven Procurement Officer specializing in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects.
In this pivotal role, you will take full commercial ownership of the effective and timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services. You will bridge technical requirements with commercial execution, working closely with site engineers to understand technical specifications while driving strong negotiations with local and international suppliers and freight forwarders to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Procure all electrical, mechanical, and general engineering materials, tools, and equipment
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable payment terms, extended warranties, and delivery commitments.
- Work in close synchronisation with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and site personnel to forecast upcoming material demand and eliminate project delays.
- Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with local and overseas manufacturers and distributors. Maintain an active supplier database recording pricing history, performance metrics, lead times, and terms.
- Negotiate rates with freight forwarders, couriers, and shipping lines. Manage international supply chains end-to-end, including order placement, transit monitoring, customs clearance, and final site delivery.
- Issue, manage, and audit POs from inception through fulfillment. Directly resolve discrepancies regarding shortages, damaged stock, lead-time delays, or specification mismatch with vendors.
- Early-identify potential supply bottlenecks or market cost increases, challenge supplier price hikes, and proactively source alternative brands or products to prevent site downtime.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven local experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the M&E, construction, building services, or engineering sectors.
- Sufficient practical understanding of mechanical and electrical materials, components, and tools
- Demonstrated history of negotiating favourable commercial conditions with local and overseas vendors and logistics providers.
- Familiarity with international shipping terms, freight forwarding arrangements, and customs procedures.
- Ability to perform detailed commercial bid evaluations comparing lead times, payment terms, quality compliance, and freight charges.
- Strong hands-on computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and ERP/purchasing management software.
- Meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, firm communication style, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
